Hi, I’m Dr. Thomas Carroll, author of Future Skills 2030, and I help learners understand how technology, work, and society are changing — and develop the skills needed to adapt and thrive.

Much of my work centres on two connected questions:

What is changing?
AI, automation, emerging technologies, new ways of working, and wider economic and social change.

What skills will we need in response?
Critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, problem-solving, futures thinking, resilience, and lifelong learning.

My aim is not simply to describe the future, but to help learners understand what change means for them and what they can practically do about it.

Beekeeping, Sustainability & Practical Skills

I also teach courses in beekeeping and sustainability, drawing on my background in agricultural and environmental science.

These courses reflect another important part of my teaching philosophy: learning by doing.

Beekeeping develops observation, problem-solving, adaptability, patience, environmental awareness, and an understanding of complex natural systems. So although it may seem very different from studying AI or the future of work, it shares an important theme with my other courses:

learning how to understand change, work with complexity, and become more capable and resilient.
